Q: I am selling my ipod on ebay. It will unquestionably sell around $175-$200. I want to offer shipping insurance. How much should I say it is? Is there an actual percent?

A: Are you planning to tax the rates USPS charges? If so, prices for insurance through the USPS (post office) are dependent upon what the concluding selling price / value is.

They range from (domestic):
Fee . . . . . . . . . . Insurance Coverage
$1.65 ................ $0.01 to $50
$2.05 ................ $50.01 to $100
$2.45 ................ $100.01 to $200
$4.60 ................ $200.01 to $300
$5.50 ................ $300.01 to $400
$6.40 ................ $400.01 to $500
$7.30……………$500.01 to $600
$7.30 return $0.90 per $100 or fraction thereof over $600 to $5,000.

Depending on the value of the items that you furnish, you can determine what shipping insurance to add. You can also make it mandatory (in your listing) and list the cost thereof.

Or, take an commonplace cost ($3) and add that to your S&H cost.

Q: My keep has orders to Germany. We have one month before we go. This is our first trip overseas and we just found out that we lack shipping insurance. Where can we get it and about how much will it cost? Would USAA be the best place? Thanks in go forward for you information and advice!

A: Nothing but keep your regular insurance active while the car is shipping. It's that simple. If the company you currently have will not cover you overseas, look at switching companies now, before you go.

USAA does automatically inundate your car while being shipped if you have their Auto insurance, full coverage. If something were to happen the claim would first go through the military insurance carrier and then the trestle would be covered by your insurer.
