Car Rental Insurance - Which is necessary h to buy if not US citizen?
Q: I am not a US resident., but will be renting a car for 2 weeks from Payless. Will need advice as to what is the necessary car insurance to buy if :-
1. The accident is not due to my misdemeanour ?
2. If it is due to my fault.
I have travel insurance which covers me for medical insurance due to accident but not the other party , and also has a deductible for car rental.
A: I surmise you are coming into the USA. If so you can decline cover with your car rental company, however, I would get it if you don't have it elsewhere.
You will be offered two types of insurance:
1 - CDW or collision impair waiver
2 - 3rd party liability
Your credit card company should provide prang damage waiver insurance which will cover your damage to your car only.
That leaves you with liability insurance, you should get this from your car rental company as it is chiefly not offered anywhere else.
Your travel insurance should cover you for medical for more info research policies at http://www.squaremouth.co.uk and http://www.squaremouth.com.
