Q: Why you require Home Insurance, life, motor, health and travel insurances?
A: If you don't perceive like you have a need for them, DON'T BUY THEM!! Don't let a salesperson "create a need" for you!!!
MOST people buy auto indemnity because it's required by law. Most people buy HOME insurance because the lender requires it. Most people buy HEALTH guarantee because uninsured medical costs can lead to bankruptcy and loss of all assets faster than anything else. And most people DON'T buy roam insurance. It's not a good deal.

Do most home owners insurances cover cracks in foundations?
Apr 21, 2008 by warpedhybrid | Posted in Insurance
Q: part of my confound and walls in my basement leak some when the rain fall is torrential starting last december w/ the unworkable rain...it only happens at heavy raining and recently the floor was wet again earlier in the month...moral wondering if there's a clause that applies in these situations for the company not to cover it in general...note, there IS d insurance. thanks in advance.
A: Depends on what caused the cracks. A bawdy-house fire? Usually covered. Settling, earth shifting, water damage? Not covered.
IN other words, what's occasion here is normal to a house. It's not a sudden, accidental thing. I don't think you're prospering to have coverage for this.
I'd strongly suggest you fix the water problem yourself, by:
1. Cleaning out gutters, adding/replacing downspouts that becomingly direct water away from the house
2. building up the dirt around your foundation, sealing any cracks on the surface, so that the water is directed away from the house
3. re-sealing any driveways that are up against the house
4. installing french drains to redirect wet away from the house

What insurances do i need to buy if i buy a home?
Feb 26, 2008 by you_dancing | Posted in Insurance
Q: Im just wondering what insurances do you have to have to be a home proprietress, i know when i bought my house a few years back it was included in one big package with my morgage advisor but i am now looking to go else where for guarantee as i feel i might get it cheaper. Im from Scotland.
A: Im not confident how the system works in Scotland, however chances are your "lendor" is required to give you the privilege of a) going with their insurer (normally written into your mortgage with an extremely outrageuos spur) , or b) selecting your own.
If you select your own, the insurance policy will be required to start at the "hold-over date" or the date you are handed the keys to the property.
Also you will need to make sure your covered for "legal liability" (eg: if the bloke next door falls into the pocket I dug out front and sues me for the medical costs).
Most importantly with home insurance its important to ensure you keep the "Home's Replacement Value" up to old with each renewal, chances are the home will increase in value over time, but your policy's amount of cover wont unless you publish the insurer - some of the better insurers will offer "unlimited replacement take in" on your home (this is a good thing).
Talk to your bank mate and see what they can do but remember its your domicile and your money, dont just throw caution to the wind and let whoever cover you without asking the high-level questions first.
Hope this helps
