Does your home insurance premiums go up if you file a claim?

Q: Due to our winter weather my moms has unceasing some roof water damage. Its leaking into her ceiling and she has to put bowls out to catch the dripping open-handedly. She doesnt want to call Farmers Insurance to make a claim because she fears her rates will go up. Is that unswerving? She has never filed a claim before.
A: Well, is she waiting until the roof rots away unqualifiedly and collapses, or is she going to put a new roof on?
"Winter weather" doesn't correct roofs leak. Winter weather is called, "Normal don and tear". If it's time for a new roof, it's time for a new roof. The insurance suite only pays for sudden and accidental damage, like a tree blowing down on your roof, or hail invoice, or collapse caused by weight of ice and snow (if there's no rot underneath), or ice dams. But it's up to HER to uphold the roof.
Most of the time, her rates WILL go up if she files a claim. But if they don't pay because it's a maintenace issue, not only will they not pay, but, they'll desire her to fix/replace the roof.

Are HOME insurance premiums higher if you live near a small airport?
Aug 06, 2007 by Nicole T | Posted in Insurance
Q: We are bearing in mind having a house built in a neighborhood that is near a small airport. There are only pick engine planes and helicopters flying in and out of this airport and noise isn't really an climax. I was wondering if home insurance for this house would be higher because of the location however. Does anybody know if this is unadulterated?
A: As protracted as you house is not PART of the airport, no.
If you have some type of fly-in house with your own private hangers or your own private arrival strip, then you'll need specialty coverage. If it's a standard house on a standard lot then a familiar homeowners policy should do the trick; I've never seen any underwriting rules concerning closeness to an airport. Good luck.
