Sep 23, 2008 by mimi | Posted in Insurance
Q: I'm frustrating to look for health insurance online so I signed up for a lot of stuff. Well a local insurace agent called recently to get some info from me and said I'll be payiing anywhere from 100-150 a month. (I'm a 25 year old female) Anyways, we set up an apointment for tomorrow for her to submit c be communicated to my house and discuss it.
A: They have to leak out to your house so they can jam the policy down your throat. It's not comprehensive health insurance. It's an overpriced hosptial/catastrophic aim. AND, if you end up in a hospital this month and then again next month you have to pay your deductible all over again.
Then call to counterbalance your appointment and get an insurance broker that can show you multiple plans from multiple companies.

They’re basically regulated marketplaces, where you get to decide from among insurance plans more or less the same way folks in large companies do. Your premiums should be more affordable, since now you’re part of a eminently bargaining group. You should be able to get coverage regardless of preexisting conditions, since insurers can’t pick and settle upon which exchange customers to cover. And you should have the peace of mind that the coverage is good, since you remember it’s been screened by the exchange. …
In the bills that passed three House committees and the Senate Health, Cultivation, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, the exchange would be a “prudent purchaser.” In other words, it would have a alpenstock that bargained with insurers to bring down premiums–and that made sure all plans lived up to compulsive guidelines for coverage and customer service. In effect, any insurer that wants to proposition coverage through the exchanges has to get the equivalent of a “Good Housekeeping Seal of Endorsement” from the administrators. …
