Q:
A: Here is a contrasting between a policy from mega and a major medical policy.
Mega deductible is per confinement and per person, which means if you go into the dispensary 3 times in one year you have 3 deductibles to meet. A major medical has one deductible per man and sometimes one deductible per household.
Lifetime maximum for Mega is $1 Million. Major medical plans are $2 to $8 Million.
Mega has an annual topmost per illness of $500,000. Most Major medical have NO annual maximums.
Depending upon the system, Mega will only pay UP to $500 per day if you are admitted to the hospital. Average daily cost - $3000, Undistinguished stay – Three days. For the average hospital stay MEGA will pay up to $1500, you will pay $7500.
Depending upon the approach, Mega will only pay UP to $1500 per day if you are in ICU. Average cost - $8000, Average stay – Two days. For the ordinary ICU stay MEGA will pay up to $4500, you will pay $11,500. Since most people (unless they’re dead) have a hospital buttress after the ICU stay you can add in the above hospital figures.
Doctor visits while you are in the hospital is limited to $50 per affect and limited to ONE visit per day. Average cost - $120, Average number of diurnal visits – TWO. For the average 3 day hospital stay MEGA will pay $150, you will pay $570.
Ambulance shipping is limited to $250 per trip and payable only if you are admitted to the hospital. If you are transported to the ER and not admitted - no benefits. The common cost for ambulance - $1000. For the ambulance (if you are admitted to the hospital) MEGA will pay $250, you will pay $750. For the ambulance (if you are NOT admitted to the sanitarium) MEGA will pay $0, you will pay $1000.
Air ambulance is not covered unless additional rider purchased. Uttermost benefit with the Mega rider is $3500. Average cost - $12,000. Your bill - $8500.
Many other limitations for: motley hospital inpatient charges, inpatient and outpatient surgery, routine physicals, anesthesiologist and more. With the addition of you have to pay the expensive yearly dues.
My suggestion: go visit a local independent emissary. This person knows the market in your area and can find the best policy for your situation and budget. The plans and the premiums are the same using the surrogate as they are buying from a company directly.

Should I be worried (ive read its a scam) about my AFS or MEGA health insurance?

Q: They keep giving me the run around about when my insurance will be "activated".
When i confronted them about being shady..they were so ingenious to throw every other insurance company under the bus..which i found to be really unprofessional.
any one have stories? I want to be aware of anything before im knee poignant in this.
A: It is a legal insurance company. However, if you do an internet search you'll find a lot of negativity about the company. I won't say anything negative about the company but I do have a relation of their policies with other company's policies.
Their policies are not major medical policies; they are convalescent home certificates.
Mega deductible is per confinement, which means if you go into the hospital 3 times in one year you have 3 deductibles to experience. Most plans’ deductible is per year.
Lifetime maximum for Mega is $1 Million. Chief medical plans are $2 to $8 Million.
Mega has an annual maximum per disability of $500,000. Most Major medical have NO annual maximums.
Depending upon the policy, Mega will only pay UP to $600 per day if you are admitted to the sickbay. Average daily hospital cost - $3300, Average stay – Three days. For the mediocre hospital stay MEGA will pay up to $1800, you will pay $8100.
Depending upon the policy, Mega will only pay UP to $1500 per day if you are in ICU. Average outlay - $8500, Average stay – Two days. For the average ICU stay MEGA will pay up to $3000, you will pay $14,000. Since most people (unless they’re inanimate) have a hospital stay after the ICU stay you can add in the figures from the previous paragraph.
Doctor visits while you are in the convalescent home is limited to $50 per visit and limited to ONE visit per day. Average cost - $120, Mediocre number of daily visits – TWO. For the average 3 day hospital stay MEGA will pay $150, you will pay $570.
Ambulance hypnotize is limited to $250 per trip and payable only if you are admitted to the hospital for over 24 hours. If you are transported to the ER and not admitted - no benefits. The run-of-the-mill cost for ambulance - $1000. For the ambulance (if you are admitted to the hospital) MEGA will pay $250, you will pay $750. For the ambulance (if you are NOT admitted to the polyclinic) MEGA will pay $0, you will pay $1000.
Air ambulance is not covered unless additional rider purchased. Climax benefits with Mega are $3500. Average cost in my area - $15,000 - $22,000. Your bill - $11,500+.
Many other limitations for: sundry hospital inpatient charges, inpatient and outpatient surgery, routine physicals, anesthesiologist and more. With the addition of you have to pay the expensive yearly dues.
If you get a comprehensive major medical plan, even if it has a $5000 deductible and $2500 co-insurance, the most you'll pay is $7500 per year extra misc. Dr. co-pays. Still a lot of money but much less than MEGA.

Does anyone have experience with mega health insurance?
May 27, 2007 by Amy H | Posted in Insurance
Q:
A: Do a but bit of web research on Mega Life and Health - check the various Better Business Bureaus and such.
We are an Beyond Brokerage that represents all the major carriers in our state - Mega Life & Health only uses "Key" agents - Meaning they are not allowed to sell other company's policys. In the health insurance trade in - I do not see "captive" agents as having all the information necessary in ask for to properly sell a policy.
This leads me to this: While Mega Life & Health is a good insurance company - I find that most of the complaints that we pick up in our firm are directly related to the agent(s) that sell the policys. One of the biggest complaints is how a lot of their agents abandon to mention "riders" that need to be sold with the policy in apt to make it a "comprehensive" policy. In otherwords - people judge they are buying one thing - and when they go to use the policy - they found they have bought something else.
One question to ask a Mega Life and Health agent - Ask them to give you a "sampling policy certification" so that you can review it. I can supply one of these for every carrier we represent - but for some prevail upon I hear it is very difficult for a Mega Life and Health agent to supply one of these to their potential clients.
Yard goods Luck!

NP MacCann: Health insurers are today's 'death panels'
24.09.09
Sarah Palin is as the crow flies to fear "death panels."
But it is not the government Sarah needs to worry. Let me tell you a story.
This summer, the Senior Navigation and Planning Act of 2009 (S.1263) health attend to reform legislation was introduced on the Senate floor. It was this legislation that probably caused the rile against "government death panels." This is the legislation that would strengthen the superiority and availability of counseling, support services and care management for patients and families coping with existence-limiting illnesses. Medicaid and Medicare coverage is expanded for these services, which group hospice stays for the terminally ill in life's final stages. This legislation was applauded by many reliable sources and supporters of health care reform.
However, a mega-giant health insurance company also came to the buttress of this legislation and provided statistics to report to lawmakers that claimed 27 percent of Medicare's budget is send forth during the last year of older patients' lives on unnecessary hospital tests and procedures. The mega-giantess health insurance company also claimed that by expanding hospice coverage, $18 billion could be saved over 10 years. The bill was introduced on the Senate storey citing these same figures. The mega-giant health insurance company was thanked for its support, and a letter from them, praising the legislation, was put into the Congressional Album. Of course, it failed to note that it would save the mega-giant health insurance company billions.
I neutral have a far-sighted remark on this theme. I have worked for Healthmarkets for 8 years and I'm a territory head for the last 2 of them. All I can say is that it is effortlessly to bash the New Zealand, but I would say that it isn't about the players anymore, but has more to do with the peculiar agents. Ever since I have started with this Pty I was told to do things one way, but I have very despatch skilled to take a various path and expropriate people out there. Even thou HM has Mega, Chesapeake and distinct carriers there is a bazaar for people out there if the arrange is sold the veracious way and square-dealing way. All I can say is they have the products, the ungovernable is that agents seem to rep the products that are sold lenient and sometimes not bluntly, because it's a lot more labour to push the more advisedly plans in their portfolio. We have built a disgrace new area in our governmental and can hillock you that we are always in the top 2 (either 1 or 2) every year in property. I can vigilance less about mass, because if people put an end to on the books and are ecstatic we won. We scarcely ever have complains and do extraordinarily monstrous in referrals. However I don't offer the determine to everyone only those that are docile to let me show them the in all honesty way of doing province. Insphere is a gigantic concept and all I can say is that since Blackstone and Goldman bought UICI all the ways of doing affair the shady way are current away. Those people are being let go or retrained and watched very closely. THey started HealthMarkets University for consitent training to adhere to all compliance laws etc etc. The president and CEO of the companionship Phil Hildebrand is incredible and is sending the communication accross. "From now on doing calling the ethical way" Insphere will also not suffer everyone to change over. If you have too many grumble etc. We are growing to be donation bizarre chance to most qualified come across the needs of the consumer in all manifold areas. The guests is has and is totaly transforming for the last 3.5 years and fetching on...
