I'm 43 and trying to start a new career in selling health insurance whats the best way to build my business?

Q: I'm 43 and annoying to transition into a new career selling health insurance. I need some sound advice from someone who has been there, what's the best way to develop intensify my business on limited funds. Thanks for taking the time to help. Dave

A: Dialogue of mouth is always the best business. Always ask for referrals from anyone you do business with and ask for referral from someone who says no. "I was unqualified to help you, do you know of someone who might need my services"?

Best of luck to you.

My husband is switching careers...we need short term health insurance for the in between period?

Q: We'd necessity it for 30 days and it needs to cover pre-existing conditions. Can anyone recommend which insurance provider to look into?
Thanks for your aide.

A: Eliminating term health policies do not cover any pre-existing conditions. COBRA will be available if your simultaneous plan has more than 20 employees. That will be your only option to keep the conditions covered.

How good is a life/health insurance agent career, would it be a good choice?

Q: Hi, I was a mortgage stockjobber for 5 years and at one point I making almost a 6-figure income. Right now things are not that tremendous and my income took a major decrease this year. I am thinking about getting my insurance allow but then again I'm not sure if I would make very good money at it like the mortgage industry. This would be something new for me and I am not definite if it is worth it although many agents claim that it's so great and they're incomes are through the roof, not sure if that's devoted or just HYPE?

A: It's unswerving. You can make a ton in this industry. Of course everyone is going to tell you they make great hard cash--who ever says "My income is down the crapper with this business!" The reason most people expunge out of this business is the same reason mortgage salespeople wash out--bad prospecting and no one to see. If you were successful in another subspecies of financial sales, selling complex intangible products to people, you'll do sharp in the insurance business. I think you'll find a little more trust from your clients off the bat. After being in the mortgage industry for a year I went into insurance, where I've been for 4 years, and I felt a shallow more prestigious. Maybe it was all in my mind. Oh, by the way, find one or two lines you enjoy and make it your niche. I spotlight on health insurance and also annuities. I do cross sell life, disability and long-term love, but if you do too much you'll spread yourself too thin. Products and regulations change so fast is hard to become an expert on all of those products, mainly for me as I represent 6 carriers. I would definitely start at a place like Northwestern Shared, MetLife, New York Life, or New England Financial before going independent. They have significant training and support programs for you as you learn the business. Plus you'll have the advantage of information from top producers doing joint appointments. Good luck to you.
