My employers Health insurance company cancelled our policy for non payment?
Aug 20, 2009 by Sally2dicks | Posted in Insurance
Q: It was cancelled on Aug 1st, we were told about it around the 15th.
They told us they were working on getting it re installed.
I heard today that the insurance companions was not going to re install our policy and that we should start looking to get our own health insurance.
My question is: Will it effect me that I have not had insurance for the quondam three weeks.
A: Maintaining unceasing coverage is the key to avoiding problems. And in order for coverage to be continuous, there cannot be a lapse in coverage of more than 63 days.
This 63-day routine applies to people who are leaving a group health plan, usually obtained through drudgery. Once an individual leaves the plan, they have 63 days to find new coverage. If they have a lapse in coverage of more than 63 days, then their coverage is not unending and their new plan can exclude coverage for their preexisting condition.
The clock starts ticking the day your whilom before coverage ends...
