If my stepdaughter causes a car accident, can the injured come back on my car insurance policy to pay?

Q: my stepdaughter caused a mischance and her insurance had to pay its limits but the injuries to the person was more than her policy would cover, can the injured come back on my car policy under resident contingent on claus? She lives with me and I have her on my health insurance but not my car insurance, even though she occ. drives my car.

A: Obligation coverage does not stack.

They would not be able to come back against your policy. The person would file an under-insured motorist rights against their own policy.

The only time liability coverage stacks is this:

You own the car and have it insured under your own policy. Your daughter (who has her own separate policy) borrows your car and causes an luck. Then the liability from the car would pay first and the liability from your daughters policy would come in and pay after that.

But in a situation where your daughter owns her own car under her own policy but lives in your household - your drawback coverage would not come into play. Where this confuses people, is that liability would not stack But.....if the mistake were covered under Uninsured Motorist or Under-insured motorist...depending on state law...your policy could understandable in after your daughters car policy.

The only other way your liability coverage would come in- is if you were negligent in your own right. Such as for negligent entrustment. Then the actually could come after you for your negligence.

Your best bet is to call your insurance agent. He/She knows the language in your policy and could best make known to you.

Is it necessary to buy Rental Car Insurance even though i have my car insurance policy with me?

Q: I have a car and have captivated Auto insurance for it.
Now my question is if i take a rental car, then my auto insurance policy for my car covers it or i need to take separate insurance for the rental car? When i took the auto insurance policy, they have charmed my car details and its present in the insurance card also.
If i need to take insurance for rental car, what type of insurance do i need to take excluding my auto insurance policy coverage that applies to all cars?
Also if i am driving someone else car, will my insurance dissemble if there is any accident i have made?

A: When you rent a car, you have to have full coverage on the sorrow that you own (your personal vehicle) and then that will automatically carry over to the rental. If you do not have full coverage you can add it to your existing policy for the amount of occasionally you'll be renting the car OR just buy the insurance from the rental place. And to answer your other question, no your policy will not cover big noise else's car just because you're driving it. Insurance covers vehicles, NOT people, even if you were in an at fault accident, your compatriot/relative's insurance would have to cover that loss.

Is the car insurance policy invalid if the driver forgot to report the conviction?

Q: The car insurance policy is automatically renewed. The driver forgot to description to the insurance company that he had a speeding conviction before the renew date. Does that mean he has made his policy erroneous and would not protected by the policy at all?

A: If your insurance establishment called you on renewal and asked you if you had any new tickets or traffic violations and you specifically said no wise you did that could cause you problems, but if they didnt call you and you did get one you can always tell them. Working for an insurance company for years now i conscious we would never void a policy if they didnt report a violation to us. Not only is it bad business practice but when you think about it they could mayhap be collecting more premium for your conviction then they would be to cancel you. I would give them a call and tell them you did get one and I wouldnt worry to much, well-deserved always be honest with them because they have the right to pull your driving record and they will call you on your non disclosure if you said no. But dont be to agonized and good luck.

Opt-out Clause on Public Option Puts Role of States Back in Spotlight

RAY SUAREZ: As we heard earlier, there was tons of reaction on Capitol Hill to this idea of an opt-out to the public option.

Now we take a closer look now at how it might occupation and its consequences.

Robert Laszewski is a former insurance executive and now president of his own consulting firm, Healthiness Policy and Strategy Associates. And Ezra Klein is a staff writer at The Washington Shaft who blogs regularly about health policy.

And, Ezra, what is an opt-out provision, and how would it work?

EZRA KLEIN, "The Washington Chore": So, the basic idea is, you have a national public option, which is what liberals wanted.

But, if Alabama doesn't shortage to have a public option, if California, for some reason, didn't want to have a public choice, they can just say, no more, and they opt out.

And what we heard from Senator Dick Durbin on the floor today was that they're inasmuch as having that done by the government -- by -- the legislature would pass a law and the governor would give it. So, the compromise here is that the public option is national, rather than state -- so, that makes liberals contented -- but that states can leave, which makes conservatives, theoretically, happy, though it hasn't truly seemed to make any of them happy yet.
